There are situations where one slumping player can drag down a whole lineup. This is not one of them. This one is a group effort. It’s just that Davis’ numbers are so ugly that he stands out.
I know it’s pretty bad when I really want him to get sent down.
“Everything that can go wrong for me is going wrong.” - Ike Davis
“Once upon a time, Ike Davis was a very good first baseman. But, he has made some huge mistakes out there lately, and today, his whole mountain came crumbling down … I mean, the offensive slump is one thing, but if it’s being taken out into the field too and Ike is going to make these kinds of mental mistakes, it’s hard to continue justify playing him.” - Michael Baron, MetsBlog
Dear Baseball Tonight:
I know that it is possible for you to have picked a more derpier photo of Ike Davis for your report:

…so I won’t ask about it rhetorically.
However, I also know that you had much less derpier photos to choose from, as well, some of them even when he’s actually hitting (or, not hitting, as is the case.) Some of them recent.
Trust me on this I am an expert on Ike Davis photos and the stupid faces he does or does not make. I’d offer my services except ESPN is on my “Never in a million fucking years” to work for list.
